On August 22, 2006, Yassin Al Jabouri was violently arrested at his house by 15 individuals who identified themselves as members of the Ministry of Interior’s Intelligence. He was arrested without a warrant, declined information for the reason of his arrest, and was then forced into a car before being taken to an unknown destination.
In early 2011, Al Jabouri’s family enquired his whereabouts at the Iraqi Central Criminal Court where they were able to review a detainees’ registry which indicated that he was detained in Rasheed Camp.

On November 22, 2019, Ziyad Al Janabi drove passengers to Baghdad’s Tahrir Square who were on their way to participate in demonstrations. Consequently, Al Janabi was reported disappeared and was believed to be abducted by militia for providing services to demonstrators. The following day, Al Janabi’s family filed a criminal complaint at Baghdad police station.

Khaled Al Awadi is an Iraqi activist who was present at the demonstrations in Baghdad’s Tahrir Square during October 2019. In the early hours of October 30, 2019, a 4x4 vehicle attempted to hit Al Awadi at Andalus Square in Baghdad. He was then pursued by two individuals in civilian clothes, carrying weapons, before escaping and returning to Tahrir Square at approximately 1 a.m.

On December 2, 2019, in the afternoon, Mahmoud Al Shuwaili and some of his friends were watching a football game between Iraq and Yemen broadcasted on a giant screen installed in Tahrir square. When Al Shuwaili left the square to get something to drink during half-time, his friends reported he never returned. His fate and whereabouts remain unknown to date.

On January 17, 2020, at 9:30 pm, Ahmad Al Darraji was abducted at Tayaran square while returning home from participating in demonstrations at Tahrir square in Baghdad. His abduction was witnessed by bystanders who noted the perpetrators were dressed in civilian clothing and are believed to be members of a militia.
The following day, Al Darraji’s family filed a criminal complaint at the Baghdad police station and made enquiries with the Iraqi National Intelligence Service and the security department of Popular Mobilisation Forces.
Mokhlid Al Anzi, disappeared while delivering building materials in Iraq

On November 25, 2018, Mokhlid Al Anzi was delivering a truck of building materials to Nebai town, Salaheddine Province, when he was stopped by Iraqi special operations forces who were driving two 4x4 cars. Al Anzi’s subsequent abduction was witnessed by bystanders.
Soon thereafter, Al Anzi’s family filed a criminal complaint against persons unknown at Al Moshahda’s police station in north Baghdad. The family also made enquiries with Baghdad Operations Command, but to no avail.

He normally works as an Area Coordinator for the psychosocial unit of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Iraq.
