Abdallah Al Taei disappeared since 2016 arrest by Iraqi security forces

On February 8, 2016, Abdallah Al Taei was travelling from Baghdad to Al Ramadi when he was arrested at Bzebiz checkpoint by Iraqi soliders dressed in military uniform. Initial enquiries regarding the fate of Al Taei have not revealed any new information and soldiers at the Bzebiz checkpoint have even denied that Al Taei was arrested there. Currently, Al Taei’s whereabouts remain unknown.

On February 8, 2016 Al Taei was travelling from Baghdad to Al Ramad, while in contact with his family. However, after arriving at Bzebiz Bus Station, Al Taei took a taxi in the direction of Al Ramadi and later informed his family that he was at the Bzebiz checkpoint. Suddenly, shortly after noon, all contact between Al Taei and his family stopped.

Witnesses confirm that Al Taei was arrested by Iraqi soldiers dressed in military uniform at the Bzebiz checkpoint on February 8, 2016. One week after Al Taei’s arrest, various authorities and institutions were contacted to determine his whereabouts, to no avail. In addition, the soldiers at the Bzebiz checkpoint have denied that Al Taei was ever arrested there and no new information has surfaced to provide an insight as to Al Taei’s fate. Currently, Al Taei remains disappeared.
