Maati Monjib is a Moroccan-French academic and human rights defender. He works as a journalist and is a member of the Moroccan Association of Investigative Journalism (AMJI). He is also the founder of the Ibn Rochd Centre for Studies and Communication SARL, which is currently inactive.

Ms Raissouni and her fiancé were arrested in Rabat on August 31, 2019 by plainclothed police officers. Earlier that day, they had been seen in a gynecology-obstetrics clinic in Agdal district. After the police forced them back to the clinic and arrested the doctor, and two of his assistants, the five of them were then transferred to the headquarters of the Judiciary Police of Rabat for questioning.

Mme Raïssouni et son fiancé ont été interpellés à Rabat le 31 août 2019 par des policiers en civil. Plus tôt ce jour-là, elle avait été examinée au sein d’un cabinet de gynécologie-obstétrique situé dans le quartier de l’Agdal. Les policiers les ont ensuite ramenés de force dans le cabinet où ils ont arrêté le médecin et deux de ses assistants. Les cinq personnes ont ensuite été transférées vers le siège de la police judiciaire de Rabat pour être interrogées.

Mohamed Sabri was arrested during the social riots that took place in Casablanca on June 20, 1981. He was transferred to an unofficial interrogation centre where he was subjected to torture and ill-treatment in order to obtain a confession.
On July 1, 1981, he was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment for “compromising the public order” on the sole basis of confessions obtained under torture. He began serving his sentence at a Casablanca prison before being transferred to Ain Ali Moumen.
