In this submission, MENA Rights Group and the Orphans of Mauritania Alliance shed light on the main human rights concern in Mauritania as part of their Universal Period Review (UPR).

This report maps and analyses documented cases of reprisals for cooperation with the UN in the MENA region over the past 15 years.

In recent years, the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has consistently upheld a progressive stance on the advancement of human rights in the country. Through its Saudi Human Rights Commission (SHRC), it regularly emphasises reforms undertaken to protect and promote human rights.

The present submission provides information on several individuals who were subjected to continued acts of reprisals – between 1 May 2024 and 30 April 2025 – in Algeria, Djibouti, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
