Khalid Al Ibrahim disappeared since July 2013 arrest by Syrian government forces

Khalid Al Ibrahim was arrested on July 10, 2013 at a checkpoint in Idlib. He remains missing to date.

Khalid Al Ibrahim, a student in educational science at the University of Idlib, was arrested at a checkpoint controlled by members of the Military Intelligence Division while trying to enquire about his brother, who had been arrested at the checkpoint the week before by members of the Popular Committees.

Al Ibrahim was severely beaten until he lost consciousness. He was then taken to an unknown place of detention. His family appointed several lawyers who tried to contact the Military Security branch in Damascus several times – most recently in January 2018 – but to no avail. While Al Ibrahim’s brother, Ahmed Al Khirlater, was eventually released five and a half years later, Khalid remains disappeared to date.
