July 18, 2024: Ouali is brought in front of the investigative judge at the Sidi M’hamed Court after the prosecutor requested the opening of a criminal case against him. That same day, he is put on temporary release.
July 15, 2024: MENA Rights Group urgently appeals to the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances.
July 13, 2024: Police officers search Ouali's family home and search his personal computer.
July 11, 2024: The head of the Bejaia Bar Association inquiries about Ouali’s whereabouts at the tribunal. The prosecutor finally reveals that Ouali was held at the central police station of Bejaia. Ouali is still prevented from contacting anyone.
July 10, 2024: Ouali's family as well as fellow lawyers inquire about his location to the central police station of the wilaya of Béjaïa, but the police refuse to provide them with information.
July 10, 2024: Ouali is arrested at 3 a.m by police officers dressed as civilians, and starts a weeklong incommunicado detention.
July 9, 2024: Ouali organises a sit-in in front of the Bejaia court to protest the arrest of Algerian activist Mira Moknache.
