January 27, 2026 : MENA Rights Group, ALQST for Human Rights, Artists at Risk Connection, Cartooning for Peace and Cartoonists Rights submit al-Ghamdi’s case to the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention.
Early 2024: Al-Ghamdi’s sentence is reportedly increased to 23 years without formal notification following a secret retrial.
September 13, 2021: Al-Ghamdi’s sentence is reduced to three and a half years and a travel ban of the same duration by the Specialised Criminal Court of Appeal (SCCA).
June 8, 2021 : First hearing of al-Ghamdi before the Specialised Criminal Court (SCC) of Riyadh. Al-Ghamdi is sentenced to six years in prison and a travel ban of the same duration.
February 13, 2018: Al-Ghamdi is arrested by State Security Presidency (SSP) officers in a cafe in al-Baha.
